Motor is out

Well it has been some time but i finally did get the motor out of the bike. I have not had time to really get it done until now. I am very happy with the amount of space I have inside of the frame, a 750 engine is not small, i feel very confident that i will be able to fit everything inside. I am going to strip the bike further and then start building a drive system. As for the body panels it looks as if i am going to be making some out of fiber glass but i will not start that process until i know what will fit where.

The motor is out, mostly

So it took me a few hours but I got the engine unbolted, but now I can not maneuver it out of the frame. I may have to start taking the engine apart to get it out, I am hoping i can avoid this as it will be a lot of work but whatever must be done will be.

I have the bike! What is left of the bike that is, it has suffered a blown clutch, the wrath of a girlfriend with wire cutters and some parting out. Most of the parts I want are with it though, and many of the missing parts I may not use or was looking at replacing anyway. Next week I will start stripping the bike more. The bike was free which makes it much easier on me.

Introduction

I am creating this Blog as a forum for my Electric Motorcycle project. This has been an idea in my mind for some time now and am finally starting down this road. It is my hope that through this blog I will not only stay on task but be able to gain insight from others with this knowledge base.
I presently am planning on using a 48v system and a brushless DC motor. My hope is too achieve a speed over 80 KM/H with a range of over 25 km. My plan is to move as many lights as possible to LED's to conserve on energy. I plan on having an on board charger which will operate on 110v so I may be able to charge it anywhere. Arrangements have been made for a Kawasaki 750. This bike has no gas tank or engine and is being offered at no cost.
